This year we were able to be in Montana with my parents for the holidays. A whole week to relax and eat the worlds best home cooking!!! I just love my dads cooking, worth the 9 hour drive. I wonder if Brannon would be amendable to coming here for Sunday dinner every other week or so! He just loves the drive!!! Chad, Cassie and Justin flew in too!! Only down side was me missed Tanya and her crew terribly!!
Christmas was fun this year as it is every year, just a bit easier because we are on Nana turf so it's not as hard for me. I just read my sisters blog and I understand the difficulty in establishing traditions and making a warm holiday feeling in the home during the holiday season. Mom forgot to mention that in the "your a grownup now talk." By the time I left for MT I felt like a tornado had hit my house, a tree had hit me, and my holiday cheer had left me a good week before. But once I left the house there was no more I could do, no more errands, no more neighbor gifts, etc. It was great.
We were able to spend some time with Joan, my mom's .....how to explain that one, lets just say an old family friend. She was great. I hadn't seen her in years. She was as fun and vivacious as ever!!! We supplied the kids to entertain her, she supplied the laughs for us, and stories!
Maisie woke at a painful 6:30am. Not an hour we like in our home. So we ( bran and I ) happily went to the living room to see all the wonderful things Santa brought, and then repeated the process at 9:30 when Addie woke.
The funniest thing by far to happen this holiday happened while the Dallas Cowboys were playing. For those who don't know my husband well, Dallas is his second religion. He eats, breathes, drinks Dallas! Mom and he have been going back and forth for months now, because mom is a huge Brett Farr fan, Green Bay Packers. They text during games, call and harass each other when the others team is doing bad or good actually! Anyway, during the game Mom takes the girls back to here room and puts them in little Brett Farr jerseys she made and sends them out to see daddy! Daddy about split a gut!!! I thought Mom was going to bust with triumph and gloat!! Brannon has already asked me to make the girls Dallas jerseys.... thanks mom! By the way Dallas won there game this week, Green Bay I'm sorry to report did not. Mom was in a sour mood to be sure!! So Brannon had the final word this week. But next week is a new week!!!
I took Mom shopping this AM. Day after Xmas sells. We argued about what time we were leaving, settled on 6:15 am. I take my deal shopping very seriously. I'll have to blog about that some day when I have nothing better to say. We went to Target and got all kinds of great stuff. Mom didn't know that all the things like Saran Wrap and Clorox Wipes went 50% off as well that have holiday wrapping on them. I think she enjoyed herself! I hope so. I sure loved shopping with my Mom. Living as far away as we do makes me appreciate each opportunity to be with her. I learn something from her each time we visit.
Well I should be done. I'm beginning to feel like I am babbling and the troops are getting restless. And I just heard Nana say she gave Addie more chocolate! This has to stop! So aside from lousy sleep patters from Addie(which we expect traveling) and a few extra lbs from all of Dads amazing food it has been a Great Holiday!! We wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Maybe I will get a letter out this year for the first time in 5 years. We can hope!
